resilience - the road to resilience
November 15, 2020 | Matt Ware
How do we become more resilient and push through a tough year? Maybe you’re in a spiritual drought, your finances are struggling, you’re battling emotional hurt, and you just feel like you’ve been knocked down time and time again. This series walks you through practical, real-life application to be able to bounce back, persevere, and exhibit Christ-like RESILIENCE.
Resilience
2 Corinthians 4:8-9 (AMP) We are hedged in (pressed) on every side [troubled and oppressed in every way], but not cramped or crushed; we suffer embarrassments and are perplexed and unable to find a way out, but not driven to despair; 9 We are pursued (persecuted and hard driven), but not deserted [to stand alone]; we are struck down to the ground, but never struck out and destroyed.
The Road to Resilience
1. Accept
1 Corinthians 10:13 (NLT) The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience.
Romans 4:17 (ESV) the God in whom he believed … gives life to the dead and calls into existence the things that do not exist.
2. Adjust
Proverbs 22:3 (ESV) The prudent sees danger and hides himself, but the simple go on and suffer for it.
James 1:2-4 (PHILLIPS) When all kinds of trials and temptations crowd into your lives my brothers, don’t resent them as intruders, but welcome them as friends! Realise that they come to test your faith and to produce in you the quality of endurance. But let the process go on until that endurance is fully developed, and you will find you have become men of mature character.
3. Arise
Proverbs 24:16 (ESV) the righteous falls seven times and rises again.
